The above picture was yesterday's trail run. These pictures are of more pleasant runs. One of my favorite things about trails running, and I frequently say this to my clients is, "What happens on the trail, stays on the trail." Sometimes, you don't get to control what happens out there. You just have to go with it. Over the last few months, I have been struggling with some emotional stuff. It is a long road that my family and I are traveling on. I have been working to find balance in my life. Actually, it would be more appropriate to say, I have been struggling to find balance in my life. I get a huge emotional release from movement. I love when I go on a run and lose myself. I run, and I can get into the ZONE. That would be the lower pictures. However, emotional stress causes a clear negative physiological response. Sometimes it is a really good idea to STOP, REST, and RECOVER. I have been walking this line very carefully. My trail run yesterday was tough. Emotionally, I was spent and desperate for a release. What I got was a cold, frustrating, muddy, and icy mess. But, I made it through. I am sore and tired. And I don't regret it for a second. I wish there was a clear formula for when to rest and when to move. There is not as far as I know. In the meantime, I walk the line. I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
